My name is Maisha, and I’m a 5th-year medical student at the University of Cambridge. Over the past four years, I have tutored students across a range of subjects, including GCSE Biology, Chemistry, Maths, and Spanish, as well as A-level biology. Additionally, I have supported prospective students with university admissions for Medicine, offering guidance on UCAT preparation, personal statement writing, and interview techniques. I also enjoy teaching younger medical students, helping them understand biomedical concepts, integrate clinical knowledge, and prepare for their OSCEs.
My tutoring approach is interactive and collaborative. I often emulate the Cambridge supervision style, where students engage in deep discussions and are encouraged to think critically. I aim to foster an environment where students are not just given answers but are guided through the process, building their confidence and problem-solving skills. I’ve found that this method helps them develop a deeper understanding of the material and improves their overall performance.
I genuinely enjoy tutoring because it allows me to inspire others and witness their growth. One of my proudest moments was seeing my students not only improve academically but also gain the confidence to apply for their dream university.
In my 3rd year of university, I intercalated in Psychology, focusing on bilingualism, which sparked my love for the intersection between language and the brain. Outside of medicine, I’m fluent in Italian, Bengali, and Spanish, and I’m currently learning French.
