Hello! My name is Ciara and I am one of the tutors at Sophos! I have recently graduated from the University of Oxford, after completing a BA in Geography and I am super excited to be working with Sophos!

I have been tutoring for a number of years now, from teaching 11+ content all the way to A-Levels! I have mainly tutored Geography and History at GCSE and A-Level standard, but have also done KS3 Maths and GCSE Biology tutoring. As a tutor, I really enjoy creating an interactive learning experience for the student, where we discuss concepts and questions in a way which develops interest and understanding. I also like to focus on exam technique, in order to give students some extra exam confidence and ensure that their knowledge is being applied in the most effective and successful way. I am also very open to suggestions and requests from students, if there are certain areas they would like to focus on, or certain methods of learning they would like to use. This interactivity is one of the main things I really enjoy about tutoring, as it helps me become a better tutor, while also increasing the students' knowledge and confidence.

As mentioned, I have recently completed my BA in Geography from the University of Oxford. The main thing I love about both studying and teaching Geography is how diverse it is. We study a huge range of interconnected topics, from local transport systems all the way to international economics and large-scale natural disasters. For me, Geography is the perfect lens for gaining a well-rounded perspective on the world.

For my A-Levels, I did Geography, History and Psychology and achieved A*s in all of these. I also achieved an A* in my EPQ, which is something I can also offer tutoring and advice for. As an Oxbridge graduate, I have lots of knowledge on the application, interview and general admissions process which I can assist students with.
