Hi! I’m Arpita — a First Class English graduate from the University of Cambridge, now in my fourth year studying Management at the Cambridge Judge Business School. I was awarded the Mary Altham Prize for English, the Catherine Yates Memorial Prize, and an Honorary Senior Scholarship for ranking among the top in my cohort. I achieved A*A*A* in English Literature, Psychology, and Sociology at A-Level while studying at Brampton Manor Academy.
I have over 6 years of tutoring experience, specialising in English Literature and Language for KS3, GCSE and A-Level students. My approach blends academic rigour with enthusiasm, and I’ve helped students secure Oxbridge offers and consistently achieve top grades. I focus on sharpening exam technique, developing sophisticated arguments, and building confidence in written expression.
My tutoring style is discussion-based — I encourage students to engage critically with texts, question assumptions, and express their ideas with clarity and originality. I tailor each session to the student’s needs, whether they’re aiming for top marks or trying to bridge learning gaps.
My own academic interests are broad and interdisciplinary. For example, my dissertation explored how Newton’s Opticks reshaped poetic depictions of rainbows in the 18th century. In another paper, I examined translation, food preparation, and diasporic identity in American literature. I’m passionate about helping students discover the depth and creativity English has to offer — and ultimately, to enjoy the subject as much as I do.
