Hey! I am Chiara Federico, a Biology and Music student from Duke University in the USA. I am in my third year of my degree, and am spending the 2024/25 academic year abroad as a Visiting Student at Oxford University studying Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry. Before heading to the States, I studied A levels in Dubai - I studied Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Music and did an EPQ on cancer biology. Aside from Biology, I am very passionate about effective teaching methods and active learning. Throughout my time in Sixth form, I tutored GSCE Chemistry, and during my second year at Duke, I was a paid tutor for an Introductory university biology course. Over two semesters, I tutored a total of 40 students through the course. I participated in professional development courses, and took a class in educational psychology to learn about the best practices for fostering knowledge and skills in students. Last summer, I also served as a volunteer educator in rural Kenya where I taught in local Primary schools, and served as a Chemistry TA and Math tutor at an all-girls boarding school. I am eager to support your studies using effective, research-driven teaching methods that utilize active learning techniques.
